Peacock Excavating is seeking an experienced Grader Operator to join our growing team. This position focuses on operating motor graders equipped with GPS machine control for road construction, subgrade preparation, and fine grading on commercial, residential, and public works projects. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, understands grades, plans, and GPS systems, and works well as part of a field crew.
Responsibilities
- Operate motor graders with GPS machine control for accurate grading and leveling
- Perform subgrade preparation and fine grading according to project specifications
- Read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes
- Ensure proper slope, drainage, and elevation control
- Work closely with project supervisors and field crews to meet project timelines
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating motor graders (GPS-controlled preferred)
- Strong understanding of grading, elevations, and site layout
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
- Experience in road construction and site development projects
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
